When do classes at BVCA begin and end each day?

At Bella Vista Christian Academy, we follow all California state requirements for Kindergarten enrollment: children must be 5 years old by September 1st. For Junior Kindergarten, children should turn 5 between September 2nd and December 31st.

BVCA Kindergarten Program

Our Kindergarten program provides a strong foundation for both spiritual and academic growth. Students learn about God’s love and truth through Enduring Faith (Concordia Publishing House). Reading and language arts instruction uses Superkids (Zaner-Bloser) and Heggerty to develop early literacy, phonemic awareness, and a love for reading. Math in Focus introduces students to key mathematical concepts through hands-on exploration and problem-solving. Science and History/Social Studies are guided by the Core Knowledge curriculum, helping students build curiosity, background knowledge, and an understanding of the world around them.

BVCA 1st - 4th Elementary Program

Grades 1 through 4 at Bella Vista Christian Academy focus on nurturing students’ spiritual understanding and academic abilities. Students continue to learn about God’s truth by building their understanding of Scripture and faith in daily life. Reading and language arts instruction continues to develop phonics, fluency, comprehension, and writing skills. In Math, lessons introduce and reinforce key mathematical concepts through visual models and problem-solving that grow in complexity each year. Science and History/Social Studies provides students with a rich, sequential framework that increases curiosity, broadens understanding, and connects learning across subjects.

B.V.C.A. 5th- 8th Grade Program

Bella Vista Christian Academy continues to provide a rigorous and faith-centered academic program in Grades 5 through 8. Students deepen their understanding of God’s Word applying biblical principles to daily life. Language arts instruction emphasizes comprehension, vocabulary, writing, and critical thinking skills, building on the foundation established in earlier grades. Math develops mastery of advanced concepts, including fractions, decimals, ratios, and multi-step problem-solving. Science and History/Social Studies offers a sequential, content-rich approach that broadens students’ knowledge, strengthens analytical skills, and encourages connections across disciplines.

Curriculum

Bella Vista Christian Academy is committed to providing the highest quality curriculum and supplementing existing programs as needed to support student success. Our curriculum choices meet or exceed California State Standards, the Common Core Standards for Language Arts and Mathematics, and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).

To ensure continued excellence and maintain accreditation through WASC and NLSA, BVCA follows a regular review cycle for each subject area, adopting new materials as necessary to reflect best practices and current educational research.

Additionally, BVCA is proud to be a Core Knowledge School. The Core Knowledge framework provides a structured and sequential foundation for all subjects, including reading, writing, language development, literature, mathematics, science, history, geography, and music. This approach ensures that students build a strong base of knowledge and skills year after year.
